Copper Squirrel
Originator : Marc
Griffiths | Size: 14 | Weight: 2.5mm tungsten bead
This impressionistic pattern loosely resembles medium stonefly and larger mayfly nymphs. Although gold beads may spook brown trout on clear backcountry streams, they are highly effective on spawning run rainbows, on resident rainbows in fast water and on both types of trout when skies are overcast or the water discoloured.
Fishing
Tip:
Fish this pattern on the dropper in riffles and slower water, with a mayfly or caddis crimp nymph on the point.
For faster/deeper conditions, like the Tongariro, fish the Copper Squirrel on the point with a heavier nymph on the dropper.
