The Hare & Squirrel imitates the five similar species of swimming nymph, colloquially known as grey darters, that are prevalent in New Zealand's backcountry rivers.

Fishing Tip:  Fish it on the dropper of a tandem rig with a smaller pattern such as a crimp nymph on the point. Use the size 12 for deeper/faster water.
